ROCH VOISINE NAMED UNICEF 'SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE'

Canadian singer Roch Voisine says he will work with UNICEF Canada as a "special representative" to improve the lives of the world's most vulnerable children.

"I know the joy and meaning that music can bring to people the world over," says Voisine.

"If through my music and my career, I can inspire others to help children in need, I will feel very proud."

Voisine will record radio and TV ads for UNICEF this fall, starting this month with UNICEF's annual Halloween fund-raising campaign.

Close to two million children from across the country participate in the campaign each year, mostly through elementary schools.

Voisine says he was inspired by UNICEF honorary spokesperson Nana Mouskouri, who recorded his song "Waiting".
