Concept of the album
Very pleased with the success of his Christmas album (more than 50,000 copies sold), Roch has decided once again to surround himself with the same producer (Marc Pérusse) and the Studio Divan Vert musicians. Roch has also written in part most of his new album’s songs, as well working with Quebec’s greatest artists, such as Luc de Larochelière ("Cowboy virtuel"), Francine Raymond ("Irrésistible", "Baisers faciles"), Lambert ("J’attends") and Daniel Lavoie ("Demande à la poussière") for musical composition. Roch also recorded well-known French classics by Jean-Jacques Goldman, Jean-Paul Dréau and J. Kapler with whom he collaborates at the Studio Piccolo for the production of 4 titles (“Dis-lui”, “Julia”, “Tu t’en iras” et “Un océan de peine”).The album sounds more like British pop. Roch has been living in London for about 3 months a year these last couple of years and this has influenced him.
Behind the scenes of songwriting
1. Cowboy virtuel
Roch says about this song: "The song is about me, actually it's about the image that you have of Roch Voisine. There's a line in the songtext that says: <Sometimes, I know what I am,...>". The song was originally composed in English and was called "Virtual Cowboys". It will be published on his fortcoming English album in 2002. The song talked about a love relationship on the Internet.
2. Dis-lui
The song is about a father who talks to his son. The song has been composed by J Kapler (Robert Goldman), composer of "Je n'ai que mon âme" sung by Natasha St-Pier.
3. Elle est ma tendresse
4. Demande à la poussière
In this song, Roch talks about women. The song is about going forward, without turning back, to change your life.
5. L'irrésistible
The song was first called "Closer than skin" and it was composed in English. It will be published on his fortcoming English album in 2002.
6. J'attends
The favorite song of Roch Voisine on this album. This song was composed by Roch in English and will be published on his fortcoming English album in 2002. The song was called "Little painted taxies".
7. Un océan de peine
8. Un parfum d'éternité
9. Tu t'en iras
This song was composed by Jean-Jacques Goldman. Roch thinks it would be a great song to end his fortcoming concerts.
10. Julia
11. Ce soir mon ange
The power of this song, is that different people give different interpretations on the text. The singer can sing about a love that can't be (Romeo and Juliette), to a child or to a dying person.
12. Les baisers faciles
This song was originally composed in English. The French text was composed by Francine Raymond. It's about the first kiss, the first love ... The title was inspired by one of Roch's books that was laying around "le baiser" (the kiss).
13. Kibera
Kibera is a junkcity in Nairobi in Kenya. Roch has composed this song to encourage people to keep on helping Unicef and all the foundations that try to improve the life of the children.
14. "The hidden track on the album"
Roch recorded "Amélie", the song that he composed during the tv show of Julie Snyder, in just half an hour.
